In the case of lost or damaged certificates, foreigners should report to the local Exit-Entry Administration Division of Public Security Bureau immediately and apply for new abode certificates. If the lost permit is Residence Permits for Foreigners, it should be invalidated with an advertised statement on the local newspaper. In the case of lost passport, foreigners should report the case to the local Public Security Authorities immediately, report to the local Exit-Entry Administration Division of Public Security Bureau for “Evidence of Lost Passport” and then apply for new passport at the mother country’s embassy located in China and apply for new visa at the local Exit-Entry Administration Division of Public Security Bureau.

In order to register residence, procedures differ in the following circumstances:

In the case of residence in hotels, restaurants, guesthouses, and abodes in schools, enterprises, public institutions, public organizations and other domestic institutions, foreigners should show their valid passport or right of abode certificates and fill in the Registration Form of Temporary Residence. In the case of non-open areas’ abode, foreigners should also show their travel permits.

5. In the case of temporary residence in mobile residence instruments, the foreigners should report to the local Public Security Bureau in 24 hours. The owner (institutions or individuals) of the mobile residence instruments should report to the local Public Security Bureau 24 hours in advance.

In order to reside in China, foreigners must have the identity documents or residence certificate issued by administration authorities of Chinese Government. The residence certificate should be applied in 30 days since the foreigners’ entry to Chinese territory at the local Public Security Bureau. The foreigners should not only respond to all the enquiries about the residence certificate application, but also carry out the following procedures:

1.Show the passport, visa and residence related certificates for verification;

2. Fill in the Residence Application Form;

3. In the case of Residence Permits for Foreigners, Submit the Health Certificate for verification and two inches square color photograph, less than 6 months old full frontal view without hats.
